We are sad to announce that Anne Leslie passed away on October 19th 2010 from natural causes. She is survived by her husband Francis and her four sons. We are hoping to convert this website into a celebration of her art work in the future. Please feel free to browse this site for smaples of her work.
Anne was one of a few American artists who practiced silhouette portraiture. Using only a pair of scissors and black paper whe was able to create life-like protratis of a sitting subject within a few minutes. As her slogan suggests, wiggly children were her specialty. She was a welcome guests at craft shows and shops across the country. If you were fortunate enough to have her create a portrait of yourself or your children you are holding on to a true piece of original american art and history. New Fall Silhouette Schedule

New Fall Schedule for Silhouette Portraits, Anne Leslie, The Paper Paintbrush
There has been a big turnover in the available local toy stores. We just got word that Tree Top Kids closed its last store, BeBeep in Annapolis. Some of these stores have already been taken over by other stores. Barston's Child's Play has had the Arlington location for over a year and is now opening at the McLean address. We have bookings at both of these, and will be appearing at the McLean Community Center Christmas Show for the first time. We still have openings for weekend engagements, but we would also like to book engagements during the week at schools and daycare centers. It is a fund-raiser for your school and a service to the parents. We also do weddings and make silhouettes from side view photos that you can email to us--including photos from a bridal photo album! I cut the portraits, but don't forget--my husband and partner, Francis, does magnificent custom framing in those hard-to-find oval wooden frames. Now here is our schedule:

New Dates for Silhouette Cutting Workshops
Our next available workshop dates are Saturday, July 17 and Saturday, July 24, or as requested by you. Please email requests for participation or suggestions for alternate dates to paperpaint@aol.com. We can accommodate individual requests, but will have to charge more, so find a friend who would like to join you in having some fun with papercutting. We will be scheduling more in August, possibly at shops or at Green Spring Gardens. If you know of a site near you that would provide workshop space for 5 to 20 people, please let us know. All workshops are 3 -4 hours long, either morning or afternoon, and in July, will be at my home studio, 6024 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22310. Questions? We will post images of what you can create with paper and scissors on my website, as soon as I figure out Dreamweaver!

Summer Classes in Silhouette Cutting and Fun Stuff
Now that summer is almost here, we are taking a break from shop appearances and shows to hold some fun classes in papercutting. These will be held at my house, until we find a larger venue, so classes are limited to 5 people. The cost is $100 and includes all materials. The first class is on Saturday, June 26, although if there is demand for a weekday class, morning or evening, we can schedule such. Please call me at 703-960-0095 to let me know your preferences.

Silhouettes for Mothers Day!
We've been snowbirds in Arizona for the winter, but we are busy setting up engagements at your favorite shops in Virginia and DC. Our schedule so far is this:

May 1, Perfect Pair, Leesburg, VA
May 8, Child's Play, Arlington, VA
These are all Saturdays, 10-4, and you may book an appointment by calling the store. See my old blogs for phone numbers and addresses. Framing will be done within a week of the scheduled date and delivered to the store, where you may pick up your order at your leisure. Unframed orders are finished while you wait, mounted on acid-free mat board and placed in a presentation folder.
